I agree with you – which I mentioned in m...Dan O.!

I agree with you – which I mentioned in my review – that Peirce’s performance as the classic, wise-ass, reluctant-hero Snow was what elevated Lockout above the many lower-budgeted sci-fi action flicks of the past decade! I think most of the credit for Pierce’s dialog should go to writers Stephen St. Leger and James Mather. Considering this was their first major motion picture screenplay, I think they did a fantastic job making Snow a likeable smart aleck. It no doubt helped that they also directed the film and that they were able to work directly with Pierce during filming.

As fan of action movies in general and sci-fi/fantasy/horror action films specifically for most of my 50+ years, it is nearly impossible for any director/screenwriter today to put something on film that I haven’t seen before. That’s why to me it’s more important that a film takes the time to develop relatable characters and puts them in interesting situations; or gives them involving problems to solve, more than trying to create some type of visual action sequence that we haven’t seen before. While Lockout doesn’t succeed in all these aspects, it accomplished enough of these things to make for an entertaining film.

Thanks for the comments and kudos, Dan O.!
Fritz "Doc" Freakensteinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13209589620766485745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5797284234078302183.post-68413859927141754362012-08-28T18:36:15.203-04:002012-08-28T18:36:15.203-04:00I thought Pearce’s performance was awesome and pro...I thought Pearce’s performance was awesome and probably the best part of this flick. The action was also a lot fun too but you’ve all seen this done time and times before. I have not seen many of Guy Pierce...Thanks, Sadie!

I have not seen many of Guy Pierce's films, as he has made very few genre films. The few I have seen featuring Pierce left me unimpressed. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed his portrayal of the wise-cracking Agent Snow in Lockout. I agree that Maggie Grace was not particularly effective as the President's rebellious daughter, but at least she didn't overact like some of the other supporting actors.

I too love the special features on the blu-ray discs, but most of the time the rental discs from Netflix have these features blocked. Fortunately, the special features on the Lockout blu-ray were watchable and the " making of" feature made me appreciate the work that went into creating a believable futuristic setting for Lockout on a relatively small budget.

Enjoy Lockout, Sadie!Fritz "Doc" Freakensteinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13209589620766485745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5797284234078302183.post-5721662744788927512012-08-23T20:24:35.153-04:002012-08-23T20:24:35.153-04:00Awesome review; I'm so excited to see this mov...Awesome review; I'm so excited to see this movie mostly because my co-worker from Dish recommended it, when he heard I loved Guy Pearce. “Lockout” looks fun to me, certainly not because of Maggie Grace, but the sarcastic humor is right up Pearce's alley; he is wonderful when he plays the type of characters that make you raise an eyebrow. I decided to use my Blockbuster @Home to get the Blu-ray before my business trip next week. I love spending some time with the special features or even watch the movie again if I have long wait times at the airport.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16482950532268328191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5797284234078302183.post-8226963467819159782012-08-21T05:37:56.570-04:002012-08-21T05:37:56.570-04:00Maurice,
